FW 2014-2015 Boho Inspirations: Etro

Boho-chic is a style of female fashion drawing on various bohemian and hippie influences, which, at its height in 2004–05, was associated particularly with actress Sienna Miller and model Kate Moss in England and (as "bobo" chic) actresses Mary-Kate Olsen and Nicole Richie in the United States.

 It has been seen since the early 1990s and, although appearing to wane[citation needed] from time to time, has repeatedly re-surfaced[citation needed] in varying guises. Many elements of boho-chic became popular in the late 1960s and some date back much further, being associated, for example, with pre-Raphaelite women of the mid-to-late 19th century.

Boho-chic è uno stile di moda femminile, in cui confluiscono vari elementi della cultura boheme ed hippy, che ha avuto l'apice della propria diffusione negli anni 2004-2005, ed è stata associata particolarmente alla modella Kate Moss, all'attrice Sienna Miller in Europa ed alle gemelle Mary-Kate e Ashley Olsen negli Stati Uniti. Tendenzialmente la moda è incominciata all'inizio del ventunesimo secolo.

Today I would write about Etro.

It's a well-known company because of its luxurious fabrics and wonderful prints and this year it has really exceeded all expectations. 

Colors are warm, the style is a mix of different ethnic cultures with a touch of chic; it uses an overlay of very different fabrics with different texture and patterns. Orange and brown -a color I love- are omnipresent. 

Ponchos and capes are widespread and between all the present prints you can find checks and stripes, flowers and decorative motifs that remember Arabic carpets. No to shortness or uncover skin: high suede boots and long warm scarves for a refined but comfortable look that evokes warmth.

Lo stile boho è decisamente il mio preferito. È una tendenza che non scomparirà mai.

Se si cerca bene, si può sempre trovare in molti stilisti delle influenze boho.

Anche in questa stagione autunno inverno, sì.

Oggi parlerò di Etro.

È un'azienda celebre per i tessuti pregiati e le stampe meravigliose e quest'anno ha veramente superato ogni aspettativa.

I colori utilizzati sono caldi, lo stile è un mix di diverse culture etniche con un tocco chic che utilizza una sovrapposizione di tessuti molto diversi per consistenza e fantasia. L'arancione e il marrone, che io amo, sono quasi onnipresenti.

Poncho e mantelle sono utilizzatissime, e tra le stampe fanno capolino quadri e righe, fiori e motivi decorativi che rimandano ai tappeti arabi. Al bando il corto e lo scoperto: stivali suede altissimi e calde sciarpe lunghissime per un look comodo ma raffinato, che evoca calore.

Monumental Pucci

Pucci dressed a very special model: the beautiful Baptistery of Piazza San Giovanni in Florence. From 17 June to 22 June you can see the Baptistery covered in more than 20,000 square meters of canvas printed with Pucci's 1957 Battistero motif, which was in turn inspired by the religious landmark.

This quote, in my opinion, perfectly expresses the sense of elegance.

What is elegance?

I do not consider myself neither a teacher nor an enlightened about this subject, but I have my idea and I will try to explain it.

The term derives from the Latin eligere, to choose, a skill we are losing now that everything is close at hand, everything is available and the possibilities are endless.

Renounce is a value that has been lost, in the fashion world as in lifestyle, and has been replaced by "culture of luxury, narcissism and fetishism aesthetic" (cited).

Why choose if you can have it all?

Being able to choose is a subtle art, which put you into the game in front of a lot of possibilities and you have to know how to give the right value to each one. Being able to choose is an act of reflection that outlines who we are, what we want, what we do. Being able to choose is to pull out your own style and give shape to your own life with your own decisions. Defines your own style, speaking of clothing.

But the above wouldn't be enough if in the expression of your style you doesn't  respect the style of other people.

Elegance is an inner state, and although different because dictated by the style of everyone of us, elegance has some common factors: it is sober, because excesses create inconvenience and discomfort for others; it is natural, because it expresses our personal way of being without affectation; it is grace, because it expresses the sensitivity to those around us.

But above all it is a talent owned by few from the birth and which everyone can acquire.

Elephance è l'eleganza da un punto di vista diverso.

Questa frase, a mio parere, esprime perfettamente il senso dell'eleganza.

Cos'è l'eleganza?

Non mi reputo né una maestra, né un'illuminata di questo campo, ma ho una mia idea e proverò a chiarirla.

Il termine eleganza deriva dal latino eligere, scegliere, una capacità che si sta perdendo, oggi che tutto è a portata di mano, tutto è disponibile e da provare: le possibilità sono infinite.

La rinuncia è un valore che si è perso, nello stile del vestire come in quello di vita, ed è stata sostituita “dalla cultura del lusso, dal narcisismo e dal feticismo estetico” (cit.).

Perché scegliere se si può avere tutto?

Saper scegliere è un'arte sottile, che induce a mettersi in gioco di fronte a varie possibilità e a saper dare il giusto valore a ciascuna. Saper scegliere è un atto di riflessione in cui si delinea chi siamo, cosa desideriamo, cosa facciamo. Saper scegliere è tirare fuori il proprio stile e dare forma alla propria vita con le proprie decisioni. Definire il proprio stile, parlando di abbigliamento.

Ma tutto questo non sarebbe sufficiente se nell'espressione del nostro stile non rispettassimo quelle degli altri.

L'eleganza è uno stato interiore, e sebbene diversa perché dettata dallo stile di ciascuno di noi, ha alcuni fattori comuni: è sobrietà, perché gli eccessi creano disagi e disordini per gli altri, è naturalezza, perché esprime il nostro personale modo di essere senza affettazione, è garbo, perché esprime la sensibilità verso chi ci circonda.

Ma soprattutto è un talento con cui pochi nascono e tutti possono acquisire.
